US physician practices from the CMS NPPES register: fields, method and prices, nationwide or by state.
Urologist email list
The CMS NPPES register (file of 2026-09-14) lists ~11,000 registered practice addresses where at least one provider carries a urology code: general urology, pediatric urology, or urogynecology and reconstructive pelvic surgery. That is 2.3% of the ~483,000 physician addresses in the same file. The count is an upper bound, because the register keeps closed and duplicate addresses. The urologist list holds one row per urology office we can confirm, with the email it publishes and the page where we found it. You can order it now, nationwide or by state.

In the public register
Rounded count in CMS NPPES, file of 2026-09-14. It is an upper bound: registers keep closed and duplicate entries, which our checks remove.

Who is included
An office is in this list when a provider registered at its address carries any NUCC code starting 2088 (Urology), in any of the 15 taxonomy slots of an NPPES record:
Urogynecology also has a code in the obstetrics and gynecology branch (207VF0040X). Those registrations are left out unless a urology code is registered at the same address. Nephrologists, who treat the kidney medically, are internists and are left out. Urologic oncologists are counted when they register a urology code. Urology nurse practitioners and physician assistants count only where a urologist is registered at the same address. Every other specialty is in the physician email list.
Physician email listHow many urologists are in the US?
The AAMC counted 10,081 active physicians whose specialty is urology in 2021 (2022 Physician Specialty Data Report). The Bureau of Labor Statistics publishes no separate urologist count: urologists fall inside SOC 29-1229, "Physicians, All Other", alongside many other specialties, so no BLS figure is shown here.
The NPPES register holds ~15,000 individual NPIs whose primary taxonomy starts with 2088, and ~15,000 with a 2088 code in any slot. Both are upper bounds, because physicians keep their NPI after they retire. The AAMC figure is from 2021, five years before the register file.
| Term | What it counts | Latest published report figure | Source and date |
|---|---|---|---|
| Active urologists | Physicians past residency whose self-reported primary specialty is urology (AMA code U) | 10,081 | AAMC, data year 2021 (published January 2023) |
| Primary-taxonomy urology NPIs | Individual NPIs whose primary taxonomy is in the 2088 branch | ~15,000 | CMS NPPES, file of 2026-09-14 |
| Any-slot urology NPIs | Individual NPIs with a 2088 code in any slot; an upper bound | ~15,000 | CMS NPPES, file of 2026-09-14 |
| Registered urology addresses | Distinct practice addresses where an active NPI carries a 2088 code | ~11,000 | CMS NPPES, file of 2026-09-14 |
Counts are rounded.
Almost every urology NPI in the register lists urology as its primary taxonomy, so the two NPPES counts are close. Physician totals across all specialties are on the doctor statistics page.

Texas has the fourth most urology addresses, but only 2.4 per 100,000 residents and 1.8% of its physician addresses. Nevada has the lowest share (1.5%). Where the data comes from
The list starts from the CMS National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES), the federal register of healthcare providers, file of 2026-09-14. We group MD and DO registrations by practice address, match each location to its own website or its group's location page, and record the emails and phone numbers published there, with the page URL. We check each email with the receiving mail server and leave out locations we can't confirm as current.

Questions about the urologist list
Can I buy the urologist list now?
Yes. Choose nationwide or up to 10 states in the order panel on this page. It costs $249 nationwide, and the panel shows the price of each state file. Delivered within 24 hours, usually much sooner. That includes the nationwide file.
Does the list include hospital-employed urologists?
Rows will be locations, not people. A urologist employed by a hospital or health system will appear through the clinic or surgery center where they see patients, under that site's name, phone and published email. The list will have no column of urologists' names.
Would the list suit urology device, lab and pharmacy sales?
We expect so, though we have not tested it with buyers yet. Companies selling lithotripsy and endoscopy equipment, diagnostic lab tests or prostate cancer drugs need the offices where urologists practice, and the specialty column will separate general urology from pediatric urology and urogynecology.
Are pediatric urologists included?
Yes, under code 2088P0231X. They are not in the pediatrician email list, which counts only the pediatrics branch of the taxonomy.
How are urologist files delivered and refunded?
The same as every list. Delivered within 24 hours, usually much sooner. Card held at checkout, charged on delivery. The 5% bounce refund applies too. See pricing.
