US physician practices from the CMS NPPES register: fields, method and prices, nationwide or by state.
Radiologist email list
The CMS NPPES register (file of 2026-09-14) lists ~22,000 registered practice addresses where at least one provider carries a diagnostic or interventional radiology code. That is 4.6% of the ~483,000 physician addresses in the same file, and an upper bound, because the register keeps closed and duplicate addresses. In the register, radiology has about 2.5 physicians per address, more than any other specialty we publish, which points to group and hospital settings rather than solo offices. The list therefore holds the radiology group and imaging-center addresses where radiologists practice, with the email each one publishes and the page where we found it. Many of these sites publish no contact of their own, so expect fewer emails than rows. You can order it now, nationwide or by state.
What's in the list
| Column | What it holds | Format |
|---|---|---|
| practice_name, dba | Legal and trading names | text |
| address, city, state, zip, county | Practice location | text; state as 2 letters, ZIP as 5 digits |

In the public register
Rounded count in CMS NPPES, file of 2026-09-14. It is an upper bound: registers keep closed and duplicate entries, which our checks remove.

Who is included
An office is in this list when a provider registered at its address carries one of eight NUCC taxonomy codes, in any of the 15 taxonomy slots of an NPPES record:
Radiation oncology and therapeutic radiology sit in the same NUCC branch but treat cancer, so they are in the oncologist email list instead. Radiological physics and hospice care filed under radiology are left out. Nuclear medicine physicians have their own NUCC branch (207U) and are left out unless a radiologist is registered at the same address. Radiologic technologists and sonographers are not physicians and are not counted.
Because radiologists mostly practice in groups and imaging centers, the list holds those sites: the group's or imaging center's address, phone and the email it publishes. A radiologist who reads images remotely for several hospitals appears, if at all, through the group that employs them. Not every site publishes a contact of its own, so some rows have no email. Every other specialty is in the physician email list.
Physician email listHow many radiologists are in the US?
The Bureau of Labor Statistics counted 26,770 radiologist jobs in May 2025 (Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics, SOC 29-1224). OEWS counts wage-and-salary jobs only, so self-employed radiologists are missing. O*NET lists nuclear medicine physicians among the job titles reported for this occupation, so the BLS group is drawn wider than our code set.
The NPPES register holds ~54,000 individual NPIs whose primary taxonomy is one of the eight codes, and ~55,000 with a radiology code in any slot. Both are upper bounds, because physicians keep their NPI after they retire.
| Term | What it counts | Latest figure | Source and date |
|---|---|---|---|
| Radiologist jobs | Wage-and-salary jobs in SOC 29-1224, which includes nuclear medicine physicians; self-employed radiologists are left out | 26,770 | BLS OEWS, May 2025 |
| Primary-taxonomy radiology NPIs | Individual NPIs whose primary taxonomy is one of the eight codes above | ~54,000 | CMS NPPES, file of 2026-09-14 |
| Any-slot radiology NPIs | Individual NPIs with one of the eight codes in any slot; an upper bound | ~55,000 | CMS NPPES, file of 2026-09-14 |
| Registered radiology addresses | Distinct practice addresses where an active NPI carries one of the codes | ~22,000 | CMS NPPES, file of 2026-09-14 |
Counts are rounded.
The BLS job count and the register counts measure different things, so the gap between them should not be read as a count of self-employed radiologists. Physician totals across all specialties are on the doctor statistics page.

Radiologists per registered address
Radiology has more registered physicians per address than any other specialty segment we publish: about 2.5 individual NPIs with a radiology code for every registered radiology address. Neurology has about 1.6 and urology about 1.4. The ratio points to radiologists working in fewer, larger sites, which is why the list is built around groups and imaging centers.
The US has about 6.5 registered radiology addresses per 100,000 residents. Maryland has the highest rate (10.2), then Alaska and the District of Columbia (9.9 each), and Florida and New York (9.6 each). Minnesota has the lowest (3.2), then Iowa (3.9) and Vermont (4.2).
| State | Per 100,000 residents | In the public register |
|---|---|---|
| Maryland | 10.2 | ~640 |
| Alaska | 9.9 | ~70 |
| District of Columbia | 9.9 | ~70 |
| Florida | 9.6 | ~2,300 |
| New York | 9.6 | ~1,900 |
| Delaware | 9.2 | ~100 |
| Wyoming | 7.8 | ~50 |
| Arizona | 7.6 | ~580 |
| Connecticut | 7.6 | ~280 |
| New Jersey | 7.6 | ~720 |
Counts are rounded.
Radiology is 4.6% of all physician addresses nationally. Its share is highest in North Dakota (6.9%), Alaska (6.2%) and Wisconsin (6.1%), and lowest in Vermont (2.8%). Ratios, rates and shares are computed from the radiology and physician register counts, from the CMS file of 2026-09-14.

Where the data comes from
The list starts from the CMS National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES), the federal register of healthcare providers, file of 2026-09-14. We group MD and DO registrations by practice address, match each location to its own website or its group's location page, and record the emails and phone numbers published there, with the page URL. We check each email with the receiving mail server and leave out locations we can't confirm as current.

Questions about the radiologist list
Can I buy the radiologist list now?
Yes. Choose nationwide or up to 10 states in the order panel on this page. It costs $249 nationwide, and the panel shows the price of each state file. Delivered within 24 hours, usually much sooner. That includes the nationwide file.
Why is the radiologist list built around groups and imaging centers?
Radiologists mostly practice in groups and imaging centers, and few of them publish a contact of their own. Many of those sites publish none either, so a row has an email only where the site publishes one. Your file's README gives its own counts.
Does the list include hospital-employed radiologists?
Rows will be locations, not people. A radiologist employed by a hospital will appear only through a site that publishes its own contact, such as an outpatient imaging center. The list will have no column of radiologists' names.
Would the list suit imaging equipment and software sales?
We expect so, though we have not tested it with buyers yet. Vendors of imaging equipment, reading-room software and teleradiology services sell to radiology groups and imaging centers, which are the sites the list holds.
How are radiologist files delivered and refunded?
The same as every list. Delivered within 24 hours, usually much sooner. Card held at checkout, charged on delivery. The 5% bounce refund applies too. See pricing.
