AVMA, BLS and map counts of US veterinarians and vet clinics compared, by state and practice type.
Veterinarian email list
The Bureau of Labor Statistics counted 36,619 private veterinary services establishments in the fourth quarter of 2025 (QCEW, NAICS 541940), a count of worksites with paid employees. Overture Maps places (release of 2026-09-23) has ~41,000 veterinary clinic locations listed on public maps. That count comes from map listings, because veterinary practices have no federal register. Maps keep some closed practices, list some practices twice and miss practices with no listing, so compare the map count with the BLS figure rather than reading it as open practices. Each row of the list is one practice location with the contacts the practice publishes: its email and phone, its website and the page where we found the email. It is not a list of individual veterinarians. You can order it now, nationwide or by state.

Counts are rounded.
These are counts of map listings, rounded, by the state of each listing's address. The list will hold fewer rows, because our checks remove closed and duplicate entries. Contains data from Overture Maps Foundation, licensed under CDLA Permissive 2.0.
By practice type
Most listings are companion animal practices or don't say what they treat. We read the practice type from the map category and the practice name, so a hospital named "Equine Clinic" counts as equine and one named "Main Street Veterinary Clinic" counts as not stated. Each type is a floor, because many equine, mixed and emergency practices carry a plain name.
Map listings by practice type, read from category and name.
| Practice type | Listings on public maps |
|---|---|
| Companion animal | ~20,000 |
| Not stated | ~18,000 |
| Emergency | ~1,300 |
| Equine | ~980 |
| Specialty or referral | ~910 |
| Mixed or large animal | ~100 |
Counts are rounded.
Each row will carry this practice_type, so you can filter to emergency hospitals or equine practices. Rows marked "Not stated" stay in the file.

Where the data comes from
The list starts from Overture Maps places, an open map dataset built from Meta, Microsoft and other sources, release of 2026-09-23. Veterinary practices are not in NPPES, the federal register of human healthcare providers, so there is no federal register to start from; we check the map count against BLS establishment counts by state instead. For the counts on this page we keep places tagged as veterinary care or named as a veterinary practice and drop grooming, boarding, shelters, pop-up vaccination clinics, closed listings, low-confidence listings and duplicates. For the list we also find each practice's website. 93% of the listings already name a website. Emails come from the practice's own site, with the page URL, and we check each one with the receiving mail server before it goes into your file. Contains data from Overture Maps Foundation, licensed under CDLA Permissive 2.0.

Questions about the veterinarian list
Can I buy the veterinarian email list now?
Yes. Choose nationwide or up to 10 states in the order panel on this page. It costs $299 nationwide, and state files start from $39. Delivered within 24 hours, usually much sooner. Nationwide files are verified and sent within 48 hours.
Is this a list of individual veterinarians?
No. Each row will be a practice location with the contacts the practice publishes, usually a front desk email and phone. The list will hold no veterinarian names. The American Veterinary Medical Association counts people instead: it estimates 133,475 US veterinarians as of December 31, 2025. Most practices employ several of them, so there are far fewer practices than veterinarians. The veterinarian statistics page compares the counts.
How many vet clinics are in the US?
BLS counted 36,619 private veterinary services establishments in the fourth quarter of 2025. That count leaves out owner-only practices with no paid staff. Our map count, ~41,000 veterinary clinic locations listed on public maps, is higher, mainly because maps keep some closed practices and list some practices twice. ~37,000 of the listings are marked open by their source.
Are corporate group hospitals included?
Yes. A hospital owned by a corporate group or a private equity-backed group is a practice location like any other, one row each. The list does not mark which group owns a practice, because the map data doesn't say.
Are emergency hospitals, equine and mixed practices included?
Yes. Emergency and specialty hospitals, equine practices, and mixed or large animal practices will all be in, and the practice_type column will mark them where the category or name says so. Mobile practices will be in when they have a map listing. Grooming salons, boarding kennels, shelters and in-store vaccination clinics will be left out.
Is this a veterinarian directory or a database?
It will be a database file, CSV and Excel, one row per practice, not a searchable directory website. You choose a state or the whole country, and we deliver the file by email.
Can I send email to veterinary practices legally?
In the US, CAN-SPAM allows commercial email to businesses if you identify yourself, include a postal address and an opt-out, and honor opt-outs. Calls and texts to mobile phones have stricter rules. This is general information, not legal advice. Read is buying an email list legal?
