Frequently asked questions
Ordering
Can I order now?
Yes. Every list page has an order panel: choose nationwide or up to 10 states and pay by card. Card held at checkout, charged on delivery.
What happens when I ask for a sample?
We store your email, the list you chose, the state if you picked one, the time of the request and a salted hash of your IP address. Our first email asks you to confirm your address. Then we send you 25 rows from that list, usually within one business day, and at most two follow-ups about that list. The privacy policy has the details.
Which lists do you sell?
Fourteen industry lists: dentists, physicians, pharmacies, hospitals, RIA firms, private equity firms, hedge funds, venture capital firms, trucking companies, churches, veterinarians, physical therapists, optometrists and chiropractors. Specialty lists cover orthodontists, seven physician specialties (dermatologists, cardiologists, oncologists, pediatricians, neurologists, urologists and radiologists), freight brokers and hazmat carriers. All lists compares them.
The data
What is in a row?
One practice or organization at one location: name, address, county, phone (line type where the list offers it), website, any published email with its status, the page or official register where we found it, the date we last verified it, and the official register ID (for dentists, the NPI). Each list page shows its full column list.
Where do the emails come from?
From pages the business itself published, usually its website, or from an official register that publishes contact emails. Every email comes with that source. We don't guess addresses from name patterns.
Do your investment firm lists include individual people?
No. The RIA, private equity, hedge fund and venture capital lists will hold one row per adviser firm, at the main office it files with the SEC on Form ADV. They will hold no columns of advisers, partners or other named staff. Advisers whose main office the SEC withholds as a private residence will be left out.
Do your hospital lists name executives?
No. Each hospital row will hold the hospital's main and department inboxes that it publishes on its own website, such as purchasing or careers, and no named executives or staff.
Are these personal emails of dentists?
Mostly not. Practices usually publish a shared address such as office@ or info@. The file marks each email as role or personal so you can tell them apart.
How current is the data?
Every email in your file is verified for your order, and each row shows the date of that check.
Why will there be fewer rows than the number of dentists in the US?
We sell practices, not individual dentists. NPPES holds many records for dentists who retired or moved without deactivating their NPI. How many dentists are in the US explains the difference.
What do valid, catch-all and unknown mean?
Valid means the mail server confirmed the mailbox. Catch-all means the domain accepts any address, so the mailbox can't be confirmed. Unknown means the server gave no clear answer. Invalid emails are removed. See the catch-all guide.
Buying
When am I charged?
When your file is delivered. Card held at checkout, charged on delivery. The charge happens when we email your file.
How fast is delivery?
Delivered within 24 hours, usually much sooner. A list's nationwide file is verified and sent within 48 hours. Specialty lists, such as orthodontists, are delivered within 24 hours, nationwide or by state. If we miss that, we cancel the hold and you pay nothing.
What format is the file?
CSV and Excel, with a data dictionary and a README.
Can I buy one state? One specialty?
Yes. Choose up to 10 states on the list's page. Each state's price depends on how many entries the state has in the list's public register; see pricing. Specialty lists have their own pages.
Do you sell subscriptions?
No. Each purchase is a one-time file. For a newer copy later, buy the list again.
Is sales tax added?
Not at the moment. The total you see at checkout is what you pay.
Refunds
What if emails bounce?
If more than 5% of the emails we mark valid hard-bounce within 30 days, we refund that share of your order. The 30 days start when we email your file. Send us your bounce report within 45 days of delivery. See refunds.
Can I get a full refund if I change my mind?
Because a delivered file can't be returned, we don't refund delivered files except under the bounce guarantee, if the file doesn't match what the page described, or if you ordered the same selection twice by mistake. See refunds.
Using the list
Is it legal to email these contacts?
In the US, email marketing to businesses is allowed if you follow CAN-SPAM: identify yourself, don't mislead, include a postal address and a working opt-out, and honor opt-outs within 10 business days. This is general information, not legal advice. Read is buying an email list legal? and our acceptable use terms.
Can I call the phone numbers?
Phone rules (the TCPA and Do Not Call rules) are stricter, especially for mobile numbers. We don't promise a line type for every list, so check whether a number is a mobile before any automated call or text.
Can I resell the file or share it with clients?
No. The license covers use by your own organization. Contact us if you are an agency buying for a client.
Can I use the list outside the US?
Our lists cover US organizations. If you are based in the EU, UK or Canada, your own local rules may also apply to how you send.
Privacy and removal
My practice is in your list. How do I get removed?
Use the data removal page. Once we process your request, the removal applies to every future file.
