US physician practices from the CMS NPPES register: fields, method and prices, nationwide or by state.
Neurologist email list
The CMS NPPES register (file of 2026-09-14) lists ~19,000 registered practice addresses where at least one provider carries a neurology code: general neurology, child neurology, vascular neurology, epilepsy, clinical neurophysiology, neuromuscular medicine, neurocritical care or behavioral neurology. That is 3.9% of the ~483,000 physician addresses in the same file. The count is an upper bound, because the register keeps closed and duplicate addresses. The neurologist list holds one row per neurology office we can confirm, with the email it publishes and the page where we found it. You can order it now, nationwide or by state.

In the public register
Rounded count in CMS NPPES, file of 2026-09-14. It is an upper bound: registers keep closed and duplicate entries, which our checks remove.

Who is included
An office is in this list when a provider registered at its address carries one of eight NUCC taxonomy codes, in any of the 15 taxonomy slots of an NPPES record:
Neurology shares its NUCC branch with psychiatry. Every psychiatry code is left out, and so are addiction, sleep, sports, pain, obesity and brain injury medicine, neurodevelopmental disabilities, hospice care and diagnostic neuroimaging filed under that branch. Neurosurgeons are surgeons and are left out unless a neurologist is registered at the same address. Clinical neurophysiology can be held by psychiatrists as well as neurologists, so a few addresses here may belong to psychiatrists with that subspecialty. Child neurologists are counted here and not in the pediatrician email list. Every other specialty is in the physician email list.
Physician email listHow many neurologists are in the US?
The Bureau of Labor Statistics counted 10,590 neurologist jobs in May 2025 (Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics, SOC 29-1217). OEWS counts wage-and-salary jobs only, so neurologists who own their practice are missing.
The NPPES register holds ~28,000 individual NPIs whose primary taxonomy is one of the eight codes, and ~30,000 with a neurology code in any slot. Both are upper bounds, because physicians keep their NPI after they retire.
| Term | What it counts | Latest figure | Source and date |
|---|---|---|---|
| Neurologist jobs | Wage-and-salary jobs in SOC 29-1217; self-employed neurologists are left out | 10,590 | BLS OEWS, May 2025 |
| Primary-taxonomy neurology NPIs | Individual NPIs whose primary taxonomy is one of the eight codes above | ~28,000 | CMS NPPES, file of 2026-09-14 |
| Any-slot neurology NPIs | Individual NPIs with one of the eight codes in any slot; an upper bound | ~30,000 | CMS NPPES, file of 2026-09-14 |
| Registered neurology addresses | Distinct practice addresses where an active NPI carries one of the codes | ~19,000 | CMS NPPES, file of 2026-09-14 |
Counts are rounded.
The BLS job count and the register counts measure different things, so the gap between them is not a measure of how many neurologists are self-employed. Physician totals across all specialties are on the doctor statistics page.

Where neurology addresses are densest
The US has about 5.4 registered neurology addresses per 100,000 residents. The District of Columbia has 12.3, Maryland 8.4 and New York 8.0, with Connecticut (7.2) and New Jersey (6.9) next. Iowa has the lowest rate (2.5), then Minnesota (2.7) and South Dakota (3.3).
| State | Per 100,000 residents | In the public register |
|---|---|---|
| District of Columbia | 12.3 | ~90 |
| Maryland | 8.4 | ~530 |
| New York | 8.0 | ~1,600 |
| Connecticut | 7.2 | ~260 |
| New Jersey | 6.9 | ~660 |
| Rhode Island | 6.8 | ~80 |
| Colorado | 6.7 | ~400 |
| Massachusetts | 6.7 | ~480 |
| Florida | 6.6 | ~1,500 |
| Nevada | 6.6 | ~220 |
Counts are rounded.
Neurology is 3.9% of all physician addresses nationally. Rhode Island has the highest share (5.2%) and Hawaii the lowest (2.6%). Texas is close to the national figures on both measures, at 5.2 per 100,000 and 4.0% of its physician addresses, while Florida has a higher rate (6.6) but a lower share (3.5%), because it has many physician addresses of every kind. Rates and shares are computed from the neurology and physician register counts for each state, from the CMS file of 2026-09-14.

Where the data comes from
The list starts from the CMS National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES), the federal register of healthcare providers, file of 2026-09-14. We group MD and DO registrations by practice address, match each location to its own website or its group's location page, and record the emails and phone numbers published there, with the page URL. We check each email with the receiving mail server and leave out locations we can't confirm as current.

Questions about the neurologist list
Can I buy the neurologist list now?
Yes. Choose nationwide or up to 10 states in the order panel on this page. It costs $249 nationwide, and the panel shows the price of each state file. Delivered within 24 hours, usually much sooner. That includes the nationwide file.
Is this a directory for finding a neurologist near me?
No. This page describes a business contact list of neurology practices, sold to companies that sell to those practices. It has no reviews, appointment booking or referral help. To find a neurologist as a patient, ask your doctor for a referral or use your health plan's provider directory.
Does the list include hospital-employed neurologists?
Rows will be locations, not people. A neurologist employed by a hospital will appear through the clinic, stroke center or epilepsy center where they see outpatients, under that site's name, phone and published email. The list will have no column of neurologists' names.
Would the list suit neurodiagnostic and infusion sales?
We expect so, though we have not tested it with buyers yet. EEG and EMG equipment vendors and companies placing infusion therapies for multiple sclerosis or migraine need the sites where neurologists practice, and the specialty column will show which ones register clinical neurophysiology or epilepsy codes.
How are neurologist files delivered and refunded?
The same as every list. Delivered within 24 hours, usually much sooner. Card held at checkout, charged on delivery. The 5% bounce refund applies too. See pricing.
