Questions about trucking companies in Oregon
How many trucking companies are in Oregon? Oregon's figure in the FMCSA census is ~11,000 active carriers with an MCS-150 filed in the last two years. Read it as a maximum, since farms, builders and other businesses hauling their own goods register alongside for-hire carriers.
Is Oregon's trucking industry growing? The census can't measure an industry, but it shows how many carriers are new. ~910 got a USDOT number in the last 12 months, a lower share of the register than in most states. A carrier that closes is removed only when its registration goes inactive, so this is not a net change.
Which Oregon cities have the most trucking companies? Portland by a wide margin, then Salem, Gresham, Eugene and Hermiston.
